Matters needing attention when CNC cutting machine cuts steel plates of different thicknesses

In the cutting technology, we can often see the shadow of CNC cutting machines. With the continuous improvement of the technical level of the CNC industry, CNC cutting machines are often used in the industry. So is the operation of data cutting machines the same when cutting different steel plates?

When using a CNC cutting machine to cut a steel plate with a thickness of less than 4mm, the iron oxide slag is not easy to blow off due to the thin steel plate, and it is more difficult to remove the iron oxide slag sticking to the back of the steel plate after cooling. The thin plate is heated quickly and dissipates slowly. When the cutting nozzle just passes, both sides of the cutting seam are still in a molten state. At this time, if the cutting speed is a little slow and the preheating flame is not properly controlled, the deformation of the steel plate will be too large, and the front edge of the steel plate will also be too large. It is melted to form the phenomenon that it is cut and then fused together.

When CNC cutting machine cuts thin plates, in order to obtain better cutting effect, the following points should be paid attention to:

1. The cutting nozzle should be inclined forward, at an angle of 25°~45° with the steel plate, and the distance between the cutting nozzle and the surface of the workpiece is 10~15mm;

2. The power of the preheating flame should be small, and the heating point should fall on the cutting line and be in front of the cutting oxygen flow;

3. Use G01-30 cutting torch and small cutting tip.

4. The cutting speed of the CNC cutting machine should be as fast as possible;

When the thickness of 4 ~ 6mm steel plate can be normal gas cutting using the No. 1 cutting nozzle of the CNC cutting machine, the main problem is that the workpiece is warped due to thermal deformation. For example, when cutting slats, plane side bending occurs; when cutting the edge of the board, opening holes in the board and forming parts, it will produce convex and concave deformation, and it is difficult to obtain the correct shape and dimensional accuracy of the parts.

For this reason, for general low carbon steel plates, in order to reduce the cutting deformation as much as possible, while reducing the preheating flame power and improving the flame concentration, the cutting process can be cut while spraying water for cooling, or it can be cooled in the plate. Perforations are cut around the perimeter to reduce distortion. The vertical distance between the sprinkler pipe and the cutting nozzle of the CNC cutting machine is 20 to 50mm (50mm is the best), and the appropriate amount of water is 2L/min. Too much water cannot produce better results. Sprinkler hoses can be used generally like rubber hoses. The smallest cutting nozzle is used, and acetylene should be used for preheating gas (due to the small thermal diffusivity of the flame), and propane and petroleum gas should not be used.

Although the CNC cutting machine has a large function and a wide range of applications, when using a CNC cutting machine, we must pay attention to the different operations and precautions when cutting steel plates with different thicknesses. Everyone must install the specification requirements to avoid accidents.
